Welcome to Hedgehogs!
As part of our collective worship, we have been working on compassion and what this means. The RSPCA ran a fabulous competition to be the most 'compassionate class' of 2019. First, we looked at the rights of animals. We discussed whether animals should suffer in order for humans to progress and why we should have compassion for all the animals on the earth. We looked at a newspaper article about 'Laika' the first dog in space and whether this was fair.
We then went on to look at animals as heroes. We discussed whether animals should be used to assist the police, fire service or disabled. We decided this is ok as long as the needs of these animals are being met.
We finally created posters in groups where we pretended we were in charge of the welfare of all the animals in the world. Hopefully, the RSPCA will like our work. Wish us luck!
World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March, we had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. We came to school dressed as our favourite traditional tale character or a legend from a story.
We spent the day looking at traditional tales and alternative versions of fairy tales.
