My School Day

My School Day

In the Butterflies this will be our daily routine.

Nursery Butterflies: School starts at 8.50am and ends at 11.50am

Reception Butterflies: School starts at 8:55am and ends at 3.30pm

Nursery children will be collected from the playground and taken inside by the EYFS staff at 8.50am.

Reception children will be collected from the playground and taken inside by the EYFS staff at just before 8.55am. Please say your 'goodbyes' from the playground line when the member of staff will ask the children to say goodbye. (Please resist from coming over to the blue fence, as this prolongs the start of the day). No parents should enter into the early years garden, unless invited by a member of the Early Years staff.

The children will hang up their coats and place their book bag and water bottles in the box and trays provided.

We will begin the day with a carpet time session when the children will have the opportunity to share their news or experiences. After the register all the children will participate in their whole class phonics session using the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised Phonics Scheme. The Reception children will then complete handwriting practise.

This will lead us up to the morning break time which takes place from 10.00am to 10.20am. At this point all the children will be given the opportunity to enjoy a snack. This snack will be provided to the school by the free fruit scheme. During the morning the Nursery children will also be given the opportunity to have a drink of milk.

After break time we will begin with a carpet time session where the children will have their English, topic learning input.

This will be followed by a period of continuous provision when the children will have an opportunity to choose an activity of their choice, moving freely between all the different areas in Early Years including the outdoor classroom and garden. Whilst they are engaging in their learning activities the adults in the setting will be talking to the children, asking them questions focused around what they are doing and moving their learning on. The children will be encouraged to experience a wide variety of activities and engage purposefully in their activity. During continuous provision the adults in the setting will be working with the children individually and in small groups to complete adult led learning activities.

The children will also participate in a P.E. lesson every Thursday morning which will be led by our sports coach Mr Skingley.

At the end of their session the Nursery children will be collected from the green electric gate. They will line up and be led to the green gate by a member of staff. They will remain in line until they are sent to their parent/carer.

Lunch time for Reception children is from 12.00 noon until 1.00pm.

After their lunch the children will have afternoon register, which will be followed by a carpet time session where the children will have their maths learning input.

During the afternoons the children will also have further opportunities engage in continuous provision as well as participating in a variety of different lessons including, music, R.E. and PSHE.

The Reception children will end their school day by attending collective worship either in the main school hall or in the Early Years setting.

At the end of the day the Reception children will be collected from the Early Years garden. They will line up at the classroom door and stay in line until the class teacher sends them to their parent/carer.
